Workshop Handcrafted Laser-cut Jewellery

In this course the participants will create fun jewellery in plexiglass. They’ll start drawing their ideas, then preparing the file to cut the plexiglass. They lean how to make a good fitting in the material, what to take in consideration when cutting. Then they assemble the pieces together, creating either earrings, necklaces or anything else they desire.
Kursinnehåll
Drawing the small pieces
creating the laser file with details to create the jewellery (like holes, fixture, ovelapping of materials, construction, lines, and well fit of the pieces on the material in order to use as much as possible);
Cutting the pieces in plexiglass, plywood or mdf;
Assembling the jewelery with right closure, chains, glues and/or ring connectors;
Finishing like polish, if necessary, paint (in case of wood) and final details;
In the end the participants will take home the pieces they create and they will know which materials to get, where to get them, learn about surfaces, which glue and metal rings to use to assemble the jewelleries, learn about different kinds of closures and also platforms to sell. They will also get tips about participating in design markets.
Vad ingår?
It is included the material necessary for creating at least 3 pairs of earrings for each participant.
Plywood, Mdf, few different surfaces of plexiglass.
Glue and resin.
Closures in stainless steel. In case of earrings, even clip-on options are included (for those who don’t have their ears pierced).
Metal chain, ring connectors and small metal pieces to assemble jewellery.
Förkunskaper
It is desired some knowledge in illustrator and in the laser-cut department.
Om Milena Faé
Milena Faé is a brazilian designer who moved to Sweden 6 years and a half ago. I’m able to speak swedish but I feel more comfortable in english. The course will be led in english.
I started using the laser-cut machine in HDK, where I took my masters and I learned to print stuff in plexi. I started using the leftovers from other students. Since it was always just small pieces left, I started to assemble earrings. As covid started and I was unemployed, I started to create jewellery more professionally and got amazing feedback. Ever since, I’ve been selling my pieces on Etsy and it has been delivered to any countries in Europe (Italy, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, etc).
